Mr Aresh Hashemi-Nejad
Mr Aresh Hashemi-Nejad has made an exceptional contribution to global paediatric and young adult hip health through pioneering clinical care, influential research, education and national leadership.
During his distinguished career at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, he developed an internationally recognised practice in complex paediatric and adolescent hip disorders, including developmental dysplasia of the hip, Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis and hip preservation surgery.
His research has significantly advanced understanding of hip preservation and reconstructive surgery in children and young adults. He has also contributed influential research into adolescent and young adult hip preservation surgery, including the management of femoroacetabular impingement and complex deformity correction, helping refine surgical indications and improve functional outcomes. His work consistently combined technical innovation with rigorous outcome assessment and patient-centred care.
Aresh has been a dedicated educator and mentor to orthopaedic trainees and fellows from around the world, shaping future leaders in paediatric hip surgery. As President of the British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery (BSCOS), he provided outstanding leadership in advancing
education, collaboration and standards of care across paediatric orthopaedics. His legacy continues to influence paediatric hip practice internationally and improve the lives of countless children and young adults.
